Today, more and more men are investing on electric shavers compared to the traditional blade shavers. Electric shavers are much easier, faster and not as messy to use. Cleaning and Maintaining An Electric Shaver
The best way to clean an electric shaver is after every third use although, after every shave is most preferable. Make sure not to touch the screen or the foil when brushing out the whiskers. Get rid of all the accumulated whiskers on the cutter to maintain a good shave from your razor.
For rotary razors, make sure to brush out the blades and its chamber and do not tap the head on the faucet or sink in removing the whiskers. Doing so may damage the combs. Remove the cutters and the combs from the plate every other month or more if necessary. Brush off the whiskers on the cutters and wash them with a liquid cleaner.
Lubricating the metal surface of the screen and cutter after cleaning is important as well. This can be done by spraying the lubricant while the shaver is running to ensure the shaver is free of any metal binding against metal.
Lastly, it is advisable to replace the parts of your shaver every year to maintain its life.
Shaving Tips
The best time to have a shave is after having a shower. This helps in softening your beard. Getting a close shave is important as well. This can be done by gently rubbing your fingers over your face and find the beard’s direction of growth. Drag the shaver against the direction of growth with one hand while pulling the skin gently with the other hand. When using rotary shavers, make circular motions with the shaver head over the face and do not to press hard on the same spot again and again.
Men with sensitive skin can start shaving by starting on the tender areas of their faces while the razor head is still cool.
